REGIONAL SEMINAR IN ASIA – CONNECTING THE DOTS

The Forum’s initiative Connecting the Dots continues with a regional seminar in South-Eastern Asia on May 7-8 2018 in collaboration with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Inter- Parliamentary Assembly. The purpose of the seminar is to increase parliamentary understanding and ownership of the implementation of international arms control instruments, such as the Arms Trade Treaty, the 2030 Agenda and the United Nations Programme to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects United Nations Programme of Action (UNPoA).
Key parliamentarians from Indonesia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam together with parliamentarians from other countries in the region will take part in the seminar. During the event, parliamentary priorities and recommendations will be identified and condensed into a Parliamentary Action Plan to be presented at the Third Revision Conference of the Programme of Action at the United Nations, UN, in New York, June 2018.
