05 sep DON’T MISS IT! –> REGIONAL SEMINAR IN THE MIDDLE EAST AND NORTH AFRICA: PARLIAMENTARY ACTION FOR ARMS TRADE TREATY UNIVERSALISATION AND IMPLEMENTATION
On November 15-16, the Parliamentary Forum on Small Arms and Light Weapons (the Forum) is hosting a regional seminar for Middle East and North Africa (MENA) in collaboration with the Embassy of Sweden to Jordan, in Amman, Jordan.
The seminar will focus on strengthening parliamentary action for the universalisation and implementation of the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT), linking to the Women Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda. The seminar is part of the Forum’s project entitled “Reducing threats to international security: Mobilising parliamentarians from Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean and Middle East to strengthen global parliamentary action for enhanced universalisation and implementation of the Arms Trade Treaty”. The project is financed by the generous support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Canada.
The seminar is targeting parliamentarians from all MENA countries and will also serve to identify parliamentary priorities and recommendations to be condensed into a regional Parliamentary Action Plan for MENA, for the first time ever focusing on the ATT and WPS specifically.
