COMING SOON: SIDE EVENT AT THE NINTH CONFERENCE OF STATES PARTIES (CSP9) TO THE ARMS TRADE TREATY (ATT) HIGHLIGHTING PARLIAMENTARY RECOMMENDATIONS ON THE ATT

On 21-25 August 2023, the Ninth Conference of States Parties (CSP9) to the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) is taking place in Geneva, Switzerland. The Parliamentary Forum on Small Arms and Light Weapons (PFSALW) looks forward to actively participating in the Conference with a delegation, as well as to realise a side event on 24 August at the side lines of CSP9 with the sponsorship of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden.

The side event will highlight key recommendations for parliamentary action to enhance the implementation and universalisation of the ATT, linking to the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda. The recommendations on actions have been identified by parliamentarians in regional seminars in Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as from the Middle East. The side event also seeks to provide input to and underpin the impact of the discussions and results within the framework of CSP9, specifically on the importance of parliamentary action to advance the ATT, linking to the WPS perspective. The side event forms part of PFSALW’s project financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Canada, titled “Reducing threats to international security: Mobilising parliamentarians from Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean and Middle East to strengthen global parliamentary action for enhanced universalisation and implementation of the Arms Trade Treaty”.

To all attending CSP9, warmly welcome to participate in the side event, please see more information below!
