– I look forward to many aspects regarding the work with the Parliamentary Forum on Small Arms and Light Weapons (PFSALW). The aspect I’m most excited about is probably to work with, and learn more about, how the illicit proliferation of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) interact with other conflict, peace, and development issues. Having lived and worked in Colombia, it is impossible not to get affected by the disruptive effects of violence caused by SALW on people’s lives and on the development of a more peaceful society. The illicit proliferation of SALW is an urgent issue in all parts of the world, and to get the opportunity to work with such an important topic in relation to the key role of parliamentarians will be both exciting and rewarding, says Ms. Wevel.
