01 sep NOW AVAILABLE: REPORT AND PARLIAMENTARY ACTION PLANS FROM PFSALW’S & AIPA’S REGIONAL SEMINAR IN SOUTHEAST ASIA ON PARLIAMENTARY ACTION TO PREVENT ARMED VIOLENCE
The Parliamentary Forum on Small Arms and Light Weapons (PFSALW) would like to extend its sincere gratitude to all participants and panellists who joined the regional seminar for Southeast Asia on June 8-10 in Jakarta Indonesia, as well as warm gratitude to the co-host the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) for the fruitful collaboration.
The seminar consisted of two parts. The first part focused on increasing parliamentary engagement to enhance the implementation of the United Nations Programme of Action on Small Arms and Light Weapons (UN PoA), the Women, Peace & Security (WPS) and 2030 Agendas, and the second part focused on strengthening parliamentary action for enhanced universalisation and implementation of the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT), linking to the WPS Agenda. Based on the seminar discussions, the parliamentarians approved regional Parliamentary Action Plans summarising main recommendations related to respective part of the seminar.
