In times when conflicts and armed violence is on the rise, global parliamentary action is more vital than ever to prevent and reduce armed violence. More than one billion Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) are circulating worldwide, 85% in civilian hands, causing the death of 210 000 men, women and children every year globally.
The objective of the Call for Action is to increase attention to the vital role of parliamentarians in contributing to human security and sustainable development, and to encourage the donor community to invest in parliamentary organisations and institutions.
