The Parliamentary Forum on Small Arms and Light Weapons (PFSALW) wishes to express its sincere gratitude to all participants who attended the regional seminar titled “Enhancing Parliamentary Capacity and Action in East Africa for Advanced Implementation of the United Nations Programme of Action to Prevent, Combat, and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects (UN PoA) and the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda”. The seminar was co-hosted by the PFSALW and the Parliament of Uganda on June 6-7, 2024, in Kampala, Uganda. During the seminar, key parliamentary recommendations were identified from a regional perspective to enhance the implementation of the UN PoA and WPS agenda. We warmly invite you to learn more about the conclusions from the seminar in our newly released report here. Welcome also to read the approved Parliamentary Action Plan (PAP) from the regional seminar here.

As planned, the conclusions from the seminar were subsequently presented at PFSALW’s international side event during the Fourth Review Conference (RevCon4) of the UN Programme of Action (UN PoA) to Prevent, Combat, and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects, which took place at the United Nations in New York on June 20, 2024.  Additionally, PFSALW would like to thank all participants who joined our international side event at RevCon4. The side event, titled “Connecting the Dots: Advancing the Implementation of UN PoA and WPS Agenda by Enhancing Parliamentary Capacity, Action, and Civil Society Engagement in East Africa, Latin America, and Asia” was co-hosted with the Gender Equality Network for Small Arms Control (GENSAC) and the Government of Chile. We are pleased to share the report from this side event here. Welcome also to read the policy brief here with the conclusions from the regional seminars in East Africa and Southeast Asia.
