WARMEST WELCOME TO OUR NEW PROGRAMME OFFICER MR. ALEXANDER HÖWITZ

The Parliamentary Forum on Small Arms and Light Weapons (PFSALW) extends a welcome to Mr. Alexander Höwitz as our new Programme Officer. With an academic background in human rights, coupled with extensive experience in international development cooperation and peacebuilding in mainly Latin America, Mr. Höwitz brings a wealth of knowledge.

During several years in Colombia, Mr. Alexander Höwitz focused on security and protection issues, including in international peace observation and capacity-building for threatened human rights activists and social leaders, working with the Swedish Fellowship of Reconciliation (SweFOR) in several positions. He has also previous relevant work experience with the organization PeaceWorks.

“After 8 years in Colombia, I have personally witnessed how armed conflicts and violence are perpetuated by the illicit proliferation of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) and, how it obstructs sustainable development and peace. Having the opportunity to work with like-minded and professional colleagues at the @ParlForumSalw team and its engaged Members is therefore a great opportunity to contribute to strategic and concrete measures in the prevention and reduction of SALW-related violence.”

In his role at PFSALW, he will be serving as the focal point for our work in Latin America and the Caribbean, among other tasks.

Join us in welcoming him aboard!
