WARMEST WELCOME TO OUR NEW PROGRAMME OFFICER – MS THERESE BÖRJESSON

The Parliamentary Forum on Small Arms and Light Weapons (the Forum) is delighted to announce the recruitment of Ms Therese Börjesson as the Forum’s new Programme Officer. Ms Börjesson has a broad academic background, including a Master’s Degree in International Law and work experience for example as an International Peace Observer in Colombia. Among other responsibilities, Ms. Börjesson will be the focal point for the Forum’s work with Latin America and the Caribbean. We extend a warm welcome to Ms. Börjesson and wish her the best of luck in her vital role at the Secretariat.

– I look forward to taking on the role as Programme Officer, to build on and contribute with my previous work experience within the fields of human rights and human security. During my time working in Colombia with human rights defenders as well as in Europe with international protection and asylum I listened to many individual stories of violence related to the uncontrolled proliferation of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW). I am motivated by the Forum’s important work of facilitating a platform for inter-parliamentary dialogue and action at the national, regional and international levels, building on expertise and experience for more peaceful and sustainably developed societies, says Ms Börjesson.
