The Parliamentary Forum on Small Arms and Light Weapon’s (the Forum) Newsletter is out now! The Newsletter details the Forum’s work in the past months, our ongoing projects and plans for the latter half of 2021. Do you want to learn more? Key highlights include:
- The Forum and the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) organised a successful webinar on March 16 titled “Connecting the Dots: Enhancing implementation of the UN PoA and the Women, Peace & Security and 2030 Agendas – through increased parliamentary engagement and action in international processes” targeting parliamentarians from Southeast Asia. At the webinar, parliamentary recommendations on actions were identified as part of the preparation for the Seventh Biennial Meeting of States (BMS 7) of the UN PoA, which will take place between the 26th and 30th of July 2021. - The French version of the parliamentary handbook “Assuring our Common Future”, which was launched on January 27. The handbook, co-sponsored by the Forum in a process led by Parliamentarians for Nuclear Non-proliferation and Disarmament (PNND), provides background to disarmament issues and makes connections between disarmament and sustainable development. - Although the difficult global situation related to COVID-19 brings uncertainties affecting future operations, the Forum and its partners remain in continuous dialogue on the realisation of coming activities.
