Connecting the Dots: Supporting the 2030 Agenda, the Arms Trade Treaty and the United Nations Programme of Action on Small Arms implementation through increased parliamentary engagement and action in international processes.
The Parliamentary Forum in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of Sweden to the United Nations, will host a side event at the Third Revision Conference (RevCon3) of the United Nations Programme of Action (UNPoA) on June 25th in New York.
The event aims to highlight the conclusions of the “Connecting the Dots” regional seminars inLatin America, Africa and South-East Asia. The role of parliamentarians in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, the UNPoA and the ATT will be highlighted, including the priorities, challenges and achievements of parliamentarians in armed violence prevention in relation to international conventional arms control instruments. It will additionally discuss the relevance and status of the efforts aimed at synergising the 2030 Agenda with the above instruments, including perspectives from UN Agencies, Diplomatic Community and Civil Society. The seminar will include the perspective from parliamentarians stemming from the three focus regions, giving an overview in terms of the challenges, achievements and prioritised actions forward related to the over-all discussion and trends of the RevCon3.
