The Parliamentary Forum on Small Arms and Light Weapons’ (PFSALW) over-all objective is to contribute to the achievement of more peaceful and developed societies by parliamentary action against armed violence to increase human security. PFSALW contributes to the advancement of the global disarmament agenda and provides a space for parliamentarians to meet and join forces with other stakeholders and actors. The participation of parliamentarians in fora for exchange has enormous potential for forging synergy effects. Lessons learned and findings can be shared with fellow MPs and other key stakeholders which contribute to a knowledge base that exceeds above and beyond that of individual means. PFSALW provides such a platform for parliamentary action on the prevention of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) -related violence by focusing on capacity-building, policy-building and awareness-raising.
