What Can Parliamentarians Do to Reduce Armed Violence? Read the Parliamentary Action Plan – Africa

The regional seminar in the Pan African Parliament focused on the parliamentary role in preventing and reducing violence related to Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW).

The seminar is part of the “Connecting The Dots” initiative and was successful. The Forum is now pleased to share the finalised Parliamentary Action Plan approved by participating Parliamentarians from the  the 5 focus countries; Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), SouthAfrica, Malawi and Zimbabwe and other countries in the region.

The time for “Silencing The Guns” is now. In the important everyday engagement, parliamentary actions and commitments can pave the way towards the universalization and implementation of the 2030 Agenda, Arms Trade Treaty and the United Nation Programme of Action on Small Arms (UNPoA). To continue this work is key for a more peaceful tomorrow!
