José Figueroa is a Member of Parliament of the Alianza FSLN Unida Nicaragua Triunfa since 2002. He was re-elected as Member of Parliament before the National Assembly of Nicaragua, for the period 2017-2021. In 2006 he was elected Third Secretary of the Board of Directors of the National Assembly of Nicaragua. He is President of the Taiwan-Nicaragua parliamentary group and member of the parliamentary group Nicaragua Venezuela and Nicaragua - Morocco. During the legislative periods 2007-2011 and 2012-2016 he served as Vice-President of the Committee on Production, Economy, Finance and Budget and member of the Modernization Committee, and is today Vice-President of the Committee. He is President of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee on Business Competitiveness and Competition and member of the Regional Security Committee of the Forum of Presidents of Central America and the Caribbean (FOPREL). He is a member of the Board of the Parliamentary Forum on Small Arms and Light Weapons since 2014, acting as Vice-President in the period of 2004-2007.
