Dr. Raphael Chegeni is a Member of Parliament in the National Assembly of Tanzania representing Busega Constituency in Simiyu region. Dr. Chegeni is a doctoral graduate in Business Administration from the University of Strathclyde in the UK with background in accountancy as a registered professional accountant with the National Board of Accountants and Auditors of Tanzania.
He has served as an active Secretary General and later Chairperson of The Great Lakes Parliamentary Forum on Peace (AMANI Forum), an East Africa Chapter Representative on the Parliamentary Network of the World Bank, Chairperson of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, Tanzania Branch, Co-President on the Council of Parliamentary Network for Nuclear Disarmament as part of the Middle Power Initiative (PNND), member of the Standing Committee of Foreign Affairs and Security, member of Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA), member of African Parliamentarians’ Network on Development Evalutation (APNODE), a member of National Executive Council of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) a political ruling party in Tanzania and a devoted and committed seasoned politician. As part of community and social responsibilities, he is a Chairman of CODRA Tanzania a national NGO committed to eradication of poverty and promotion of sustainable development. In November 2016 Chegeni was elected as representative to the Board of the Parliamentary Forum on Small Arms and Light Weapons
